CTL / VCF (high-level explanation)
Some calculations in SurveyTools require a temperature correction factor for petroleum
products. You may see this referred to as CTL (or, more generally, a volume correction
factor sometimes called VCF).
What it is used for (in this app)
- Adjusting volume between observed temperature and a reference temperature.
- Supporting dependent calculations such as floating roof displacement (FRC).
- Supporting some unit conversions (e.g. standard volume to barrels at a reference condition).
Best practice
- Use SurveyTools as a calculation aid within your existing workflow.
- Cross-check with your official tables or certified systems.
- If results look unexpected, verify your density basis (vacuum/air), temperature, and product group selection.
